Evansville Police Department Records
The EPD Records Division processes requests for incident reports, arrest reports, and other police documents. Their website at evansvillepolice.com has contact information and instructions for submitting records requests.
The department's records page walks through the types of reports available and the process for getting them. Some reports are available within a few days. Others, especially those tied to open investigations, may take longer or be withheld.

To search current inmates, go to vanderburghsheriff.org/jail/inmate-lookup. You can search by name and see who is currently booked, their charges, and in many cases their bond status. The page is updated throughout the day.

Indiana Courts MyCase
Criminal charges filed after an Evansville arrest appear in the Vanderburgh Circuit or Superior Court system. You can track any case at no cost through public.courts.in.gov/mycase.
MyCase is the statewide court records portal. Search by name or case number. Results show charges, hearing dates, judge assignments, motions filed, and case outcomes. Most cases appear within one to two days of the first filing.
The system covers all Indiana counties. Vanderburgh County criminal cases load right alongside civil and traffic cases. Adult criminal cases are generally open to public view from the date of filing.
What Arrest Records Contain
Indiana law at IC 5-14-3-5 makes arrest records public. The statute requires agencies to release the name of the person arrested, the offense charged, the date and location of the arrest, and the arresting officer's name and badge number.
Mugshots, bond information, and booking photos may or may not be immediately available. These typically appear on the jail roster within a few hours of booking. If details are missing, check back in the evening after the arrest.
An arrest is not a conviction. Charges can be dropped, reduced, or result in acquittal. Never treat an arrest record alone as proof of guilt.
ISP Limited Criminal History
The Indiana State Police runs a public criminal history search tool at in.gov/ai/appfiles/isp-lch2. This is the Limited Criminal History (LCH) database. It pulls from court-reported records across all Indiana counties.
You can use it to check a person's arrest and conviction history in Indiana. It is not real-time. There may be a lag of several days or more between a court event and when it appears. For current jail status, the Vanderburgh inmate lookup is a better tool.
VINE Notification Service
The VINE service lets you register to receive alerts when an inmate is released, transferred, or escapes. It is free. Sign up at vinelink.com or call 1-866-959-VINE at any hour. The service covers Vanderburgh County Jail and all Indiana DOC facilities.
You do not have to be a crime victim to use VINE. Anyone can register. The system sends alerts by phone, email, or text depending on how you sign up. It is a useful tool if you need to know right away when someone gets out.
Public Records Requests Under APRA
Indiana's Access to Public Records Act at IC 5-14-3-3 gives you the right to inspect and copy government records. Agencies must respond within seven days of receiving your written request.
Common exempt records include active investigation files, juvenile records, and some personnel records. If a request is denied, the agency must cite the specific legal exemption. You can appeal to the Indiana Public Access Counselor at no cost if you believe a denial was wrong.
For EPD records, submit requests to the Records Division in writing. For Vanderburgh County Sheriff records, contact the sheriff's office directly. Both agencies accept email, mail, and in-person requests.
INjail Multi-County Portal
Indiana's statewide multi-county jail portal at public.indianajail.gov includes Vanderburgh County roster data along with many other counties. If you are not sure which county someone may be held in, this is a good starting point because it searches across multiple jails at once.
The portal is run by the Indiana Sheriffs' Association and is updated regularly. Search by name and the system checks all participating county jails. Some smaller counties are not included but Vanderburgh is part of the network.
